Driving Line allowed?

Post by RW26 BLAZE on Sun 23 Oct 2016 - 0:23

when I originally joined TORA back in 2012 (on forza 4) I saw in the regs that Driving Line assist was banned in TORA.

Has the rules in the regs changed lately, I noticed in afew livestreams that afew drivers have got it turned on into braking line only.

has the rules been open on driving lines due to new consoles and games and some new drivers or is it still on the ban list, cos if some ppl getting away with it, I'm not impressed.

Braking line has always been regularly used and allowed at TORA, except for two series I hosted way back in 2012/2013 (MX5 Cup and IROC) I'd have continued to ban it, but the outcry was too shrill to ignore.

Braking and/or steering assists (ie the ones that do the work for you) are banned but the driving line is not Smile Some "hardcore" series might force them off though Wink

I will have to admit that I would stop racing in all of the series that it would be banned in because I cannot judge distances very well on the screen so it is an assist that I very much need in long braking zones. Without it I literally wouldn't be able to race.

I've been using the braking only line for a long time now.
I can drive without it sure no problem. But that means I have to put a lot more time into training/testing and that is hard for me.
Also in the night I find it helpful to judge corners etc.

I second this. I can drive without it fine on F1, GT and PCars, yet there is something about Forza, be it depth perception or track detail, that means I struggle to brake in time for corners. Without that braking line I literally cannot judge the distances and tend to end up going into the wall a lot, or just brake checking those behind whilst trying not to do the former.

I always set my assists after the first career race in a new Forza...

Normal Steering
Line Off
Manual w/Clutch
Bonnet/Hood view

It sims things up just enough for my tastes.

Hello Hello Tora racers.
I've always used the "Driving" Line in Forza from Forza 1 to Forza 4.
I don't have an Xbox One yet.

Forza 4 has too much light reflection on some turns that make it hard to see the corner.

The main reason though, is that my eyesight is 20/100.
My eye doctor says that if I could not read the line on the eye chart that I do, I would be considered "Legally Blind" lol  lol!

I don't really need the racing line on the Ovals though. cheers

I'm sure if I were to force line assist off for a series, it could cost a few entries

but I am seriously thinking of trying it again. Maybe for American Iron's next season.

Would most likely drop entries. I find Forza is the hardest game to learn the braking points on. It's possible for me, it just takes time, most likely because it's harder to pick out a set braking point from third person. I just don't seem to find it as easily as F1, CARS and GT. On those games the track is rubbered in too, so you can see where people are braking and the markers are more prominent.

For me the braking line actually makes it worse. I only use it when learning to drive on a new track (e.g. when VIR was added).
In any other case it's confusing me too much and would cause me to blindly follow that line even if I already knew that I wouldn't need to brake there that hard
(or even lift the throttle).  lol!

The last time I regularly used the driving/braking line was in Forza 3 (my first one) where I was still driving with automatic gears and almost every assist activated (except assisted braking and steering). But after a bit of training that line was one of the first assists I deactivated. ^^

Feel free to add the ribbon for second place in Teams of PCARS Spec Cup Season 4 *wink*
