TORA ASCC - Round 5 Driver's Briefing & Track Limits

Post by BIGBEN0913 on Mon 7 May 2018 - 4:00

Round 5 - Road Atlanta - May 13, 2018
Welcome to final round of the American Sports Car Championship Season 2. Our last race of the season finds us in Braselton, Georgia, home of Road Atlanta.  Road Atlanta is home to the famous Petit Le Mans and is considered by many one of the best tracks in North America.  The construction for the circuit began in 1969, getting a huge boost the following year when the Can-Am series announced that the yet to be completed circuit would replace the flood-damaged Bridgehampton.  Somehow the circuit was completed in time, and on September 13, 1970 the circuit saw its first race.  Road Atlanta has played host to many different series over its years, including the likes of Can-Am, Trans-Am, American Le Mans Series, NASCAR K&N East Series, and countless SCCA level events.

Special Note: Thanks to all of our community members that took time to answer my poll about the date of the last round.  However, it has come to light that several fake accounts were created right before the poll closed that affected to overall results.  Needless to say I expected more of this community than to resort to such petty action.  That being said, I have decided to have the race next week (Sunday May 13th) as it was the clear leader before the tampering occurred.  That and I'd rather watch the Indy500 than race as well.

Qualifying - Qualifying will take place 1-hour prior to race start time (2:00 pm EDT/7:00 pm BST).  Drivers will have 15 minutes to set their fastest, clean lap. Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-lobby chat to a minimal.

Race - The race will be a timed race lasting 90 minutes.  The lobby will be set to 1hr 40 minutes to allow time for drivers to finish the race and collect times.  A change this year is that the race time will include the pace lap, so drivers are asked to get into their grid positions as quickly as possible.  When 90 minutes has passed, drivers will continue to race until they race the start finish line.  Drivers will then line in in finishing order in Turn 1.

Pit Stops - There will be 2 mandatory stops for GT and 3 mandatory stops for DP.

Track Limits - For this track, drivers are reminded that the TORA standard is that two wheels MUST remain on track at all times, designated by the lines on the outside of the track.

If anyone has further questions, please post them in this thread.  Good luck, and I will see you all on track.

We are working on it.  There are some things we need to change on the back-end of the docs to open the sign in form.

Hosts will be DOR ForlornBear, HCR Carlson, and HCR Motorhead for qualifying.

Live Timing should be correct.

I'm heading off to Florida for a much needed vacation, good luck guys! May your engine rev high and your tires grip hard.

Turn 5 at Road Atlanta is not the easiest corner ever but the stewards will look down on consistent breaches of the track limits there during the race.

We will give it an hour. If it doesn't improve after this then it will be red flagged tonight and a decision will be made at a later date.

Well done Forza.

That was a disappointing end to the series for me. Messed up qualifying, felt I had to speed to make up for it and perhaps fight for 2nd. Then I lagged out. Guess we’ll never know if it was because of my connection or shitty Forza servers. Shame that I lost 3rd place in the championship because of this.
