Re: Regulation Clarification

Post by Ian on Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:23 pm

Just a quick question around the the LMP1 class, i no in the current Le Mans Championship the Audi R15 cars run with the restrictors off, but in the actual Le Mans race this give them a massive advantage over the field with top speed along the long straights. Getting to my point i think all the LMP1 cars should be run at stock PI as there are very fair and balanced on this track, i am not going to argue about the other tracks but this one the unrestricted top speed of the R15 they will make it very unfair.

I am rather looking forward to this event, just wish we had a lobby big enough to fit everyone in.

Probably won't happen, although I am curious as to why the restrictors have been put on Louis' R15 when AJ is racing against him in the Pug in the next 24hr event. Surely it should be the same for everyone no?

or quite simply that he has to have the best PI in the field so he has the best chance of winning.

@ Ian we did do very extensive testing on that and believe it or not the lap times are closer with the restrictors off than on, not to mention with them on we would be behind the LMP2 leader which by the way he's doing 3:18's!

What P2 car was that? i think its abit unfair that an "upgraded" p2 car is going faster than the P1 Astons.....

I think for the this event all cars should be run at Stock PI wil NO upgrades as all the car are designed to be fair for this track (apart from the Nissan GT-R).

I get the feeling all this will fall short an not notice taken but for the sake of the event all cars should be stock to make it fair, very unrealistic that a P2 car can be going that fast.......regardless who is driving.

Can TORA staff please look into it BEFORE the event to even it out for everyone.

@Louis - Then why are all the restrictors back on for your 24hr challenge? If the cars are so equal without restrictors then why are you having to use them on the audi when AJ is in the Pug? Its a total farce.

Oh and btw what car am I in for the 2.4? General got to freely switch to a vette so I applied to use his Pug seat. Will I get to use that or will I have to use the Lola which I have never raced in? If I had to race in a car that I have driven this season like the rules say then i should be in a Porka. Love how some people get to change things as they please around here and other don't :D

The 24 hour challenge is trying to recreate le mans, its not about winning anything. So I think ajs set it up like real le mans I'm not aj but that's how I see it

thats not true. i have heard nothing confirming this. biggs put in the application, but have heard nothing back.

and i'm still in a pug on the entry list.

If i am asked to run in the pug for M&M because i ran in it for the rest of the LMS, I will gladly drive the pug again under the M&M banner.

I hope they do not cancel this event as well as the Classic, due to balancing issues. it would be a real shame, as this event could be very good. Let's hope it stays!

It may just turn into a normal event for the LMS championship, similar to the CER event, rather than an independent event. We shall have to wait and see.

All GT1 Nissan drivers may run at a maximum PI of 908 for this event.

However a 15% power handicap will be applied.

This may be reviewed after the completion of the qualifying sessions.

Ok. That means we get a 65 bhp increase over the restricted car. No worries.

May I please ask who tested this AJ and what results you achieved? Also why was I not consulted on this matter as I have been testing for you guys for over 2 hours last night trying to balance the cars.
Either way I am happy, but a little communication would be nice.
