The question that comes up the most is why the Saturn Sky? As the boss of SBR’s Driftworks division Slider has his choice of several top line drift cars in which to fight for the TFD Title, The SBR Mustang in which he won the SBR 800K Challenge, the 9.4 litre SBR Dodge Challenger SRT8 in which Slider defeated a member of team Black Jack, and countless other well developed and more obvious choices of Machine than the Little Saturn…. So Why pick the Sky?



Well Firstly there is the history of the car, Here it is in its previous Guise as it competed in Slider’s hands in the SBR 800K Challenge II, Also piloting Slider to Victory and the highest Score ever attained in the 800K Challenge.



However another reason Lurks beneath the Seibon Carbon Fibre Bonnet…. An SBR Modified Chevrolet LS7 V8 normally found in a Corvette Z06. The Lightly modified motor pushes out just under 600BHP, plenty of punch to incinerate the rear tires on the little roadster!



Unlike most SBR cars, The Sky rolls on 20" Rota Tarmac 3's, due to a slightly higher weight than the usual Wedsport Wheels used by SBR. These are wrapped in Falken Azenis RT615-K's, the sticky Road tires were specifically developed by Falken Tires for Drifting. A Full Racing Brake System was provided by Alcon, with a full Eibach race suspension system keeping control at every corner…..



….and Keep control they do! Slider S15 Piloted the Sky to 2nd place at Round 1 of the TORA Formula Drift Championship, despite engine problems crippling the Sky on its 2nd run and a mistake on Run 3. The conditions at the event took everybody by surprise, But the Sky was designed to be extremely adjustable and still remain within TORA’s Rules of competition, So hopefully there will be more to come from the SBR Falken Rockstar Sky at Round 2.



So why build a V8 powered Saturn Sky? The Power? The Sound? The Speed? No…. To Be Unique and Devastatingly Effective? You might just be on to Something there….



The Sky Will be competing again at Round 2 of the TORA Formula Drift Championship at Road Atlanta Thursday 26th August 2010…
