ISCC Track Guides

Post by ATR DAN on Mon Jan 10, 2011 2:42 pm

Hey guys.
I have spoken to Chris (WWR Aero) last night about planning to create some Track guide videos for this season's ISCC with added commentary. The one thing he doesn't know is that I am not going to be the only person who does the track guide. Let me explain.

If I can work out how to record conversations on skype, I am planning for other drivers (one of you) to drive and narrate on the track guide video's so it won't be just me giving the guides out on every circuit. So for example, I am driving and narrating in the first guide and Duncan (Selective Rogue) shall do the talking and driving in the Suzuka one etc etc. I want to get the chance to get as many people doing this as we can because then each track guide is different. I shall create the video's (obviously)! lol
The only way we can create these video's is after we've finished practicing online, I will ask one of you to gift me your replays because I'm planning on using the drivers eye-view for the video guides. And also if you are able to do the narration for the track guide as well.
To give you a rough plan/idea of what shall be in this video, the first sequence will be as the driver is leaving the pit-lane, he shall be introducing himself and also introduce the track guide. As an example, mine will be "HI! I'm Daniel Austins a.k.a DAN 2605. I am the driver of the 008 Gulf Austins Motorsport Aston Martin LMP1 car and I'm gonna give you my track guide to Motegi Raceway". Then the footage of the onboard shot will appear and you shall narrate the track guide. What gear to take a corner or how to take the corner, when to brake etc etc. Once I've done the Motegi one, I will show you what I mean. But only if I knew how to record conversations on skype first.

If you get myself, I believe Matt, or Shane into the conversation, we've got software which we've bought that records Skype convos for the podcast, from which we can then send the recorded file.

Thanks for the offer on those Magic. If you are able to record a voice over for one of them, I will let you know,
But I'm looking to use more than one driver going round and round a track. The idea of theses track guides is to get as many drivers from each of the classes to do these as I can so it isn't just mine or your cars going around because it'll be a bit repetitive. Say for example I'll do Motegi in my LMP1 Aston, Duncan does Suzuka in his GT2 car, Chaddy does Tsukuba in his LMP2 machine, Louis around Le Mans, Shane around Silverstone etc etc.

If its ok with Shane, I might ask him if we can be able to record the voice-overs when we are ready to do the recordings. If not, then I will try those other options for recording. Thanks for those by the way. Wink

No worries mate. You could do the next one at suzuka if you'd like? We don't need to record it yet....obviously. After the first race we will probably do it. Wink

I'm uploading my Motegi Track guide at the minute to give you guys a rough idea of what the track guide will be like. There is another hour and a half before its ready.

this sounds fun.

"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

My commentary is rubbish. When I had to record my voice-over, I was literally doing it froma script because I get nervous and I'm no good at commentary.

best person i've heard commentating is ECB Rob Moore when me and magic were racing in the gt1's at Nurburgring and his commentating was immense and he built the tension really really well, we should ask him to do some commentating as he's EPIC Very Happy

If he wants to contribute, then that would be great.
But we are doing this from a drivers point of view explaining their laps around the circuits they are giving the guides on. If for some reason they don't want to commentate, then we could get Rob to help out.
