Sonic Racing

In just over 7 hours, Sonic Racing will kick off its inaugural ISCC campaign at the Nurburgring. Sonic Racing is a small independent team that has entered several races in different series in the past few years, but up until now has not ran a full season do to a lack of funding. Having now acquired sufficient financial backing from a private party, Sonic Racing has expanded its partnership with Lola and Infiniti in preparation for the European and American legs of the ISCC. Our previous Lola coupe has been retired in favor of two new chassis that only very recently arrived at the factory from Lola. Despite starting from the back foot, the team took last year's car as well as the two new models a few hours down the road to Laguna Seca to get at much work in as possible before shipping off to Germany.

- Chassis 01 and 02 pull out of the pits for their shakedown test.

- Last year's car following them out.

Unfortunately due to our late start, we were forced to run into the night.

To make matters worse, we ran our shakedown on one of the few nights of the year that it rains in Monterey, CA.

Fortunately the rain did not last too long, but the track remained wet for the rest of the night.

After confirming that all of our systems and components were in working order, the car was cleaned up and transported back up to San Jose where our new financier was holding a reveal party.

As soon as the event was over, the car was loaded back on the truck and driven up to SFO for the flight to Germany. Fortunately the flight went smoothly and the car and equipment made it through customs and to the Nurburgring with no problems, just in time for some set up work.

- Pulling out of the pits at the Nurburgring.

- Deglazing a set of brakes for the race.

- Pulling back into the pits.

Our brief amount of set up work has left us somewhat far off the pace of our factory backed competitors and fellow privateer entries. Realistically, the goal is to finish the race and avoid any mechanical problems while picking up as many points as possible. Thanks to our chassis supplier Lola, our engine supplier Infiniti, and our financial backers in California.

(forgive the photoshop work, it started poorly and only went down hill from there as its now 5am)

I dont think I've seen anyone on TORA brave enough (someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong) to tweak the photos to look like it was dark, Very much liking the Lights on the two cars leaving the pitlane in the dark.

I've done a few, night and even misty dawn shots/experiments using Forza and Photoshop with varying degrees of success. Not sure which threads they ended up in, but they turned out pretty good. I'm sure I'd do things differently now that I'm a bit more experienced with Ps.
